How plastic play food becomes sacred

Hopefully you’ve been out enjoying the beautiful sunshine today! ☀️

I’m praying for each of you to find a few people to share House Church with: people who will enjoy good food together (take-out is fine!) and honest conversation about life and God.

🏘️ Today in our own House Church we:

1️⃣ made omelets and had Panera coffee
2️⃣ had one child prepare Communion elements with his pretend kitchen items
3️⃣ had a few over-zealous kids spill the Communion juice everywhere
4️⃣ grilled burgers and shared homemade coleslaw & garden-fresh tomatoes for lunch
5️⃣ broke up fights between kids and wiped a lot of tears
6️⃣ talked about what our “next right thing” is for this week
7️⃣ discussed PK’s sermon and how it felt more like a commissioning than a guilt-trip
8️⃣ laughed a lot
9️⃣ watched the Tiger’s game
🔟 got tired and went home for rest time

When I say it doesn’t have to fancy, I mean it. When I talk about real life and communion with God together, I mean it. We’re trying our best to live out the kind of Jesus-following life we invite you all to live, which includes laughter and tears, delicious food and spilled milk.

I can’t wait to hear how God’s Spirit transforms lives through simple and sacred House Church gatherings. 🏘️

We loved seeing many of you joining in on FB Live and Zoom this morning for prayer and Scripture and Communion. To watch or share the recording, click here.

Pastor Kevin preached a 2-for-1 sermon today, including Peter’s willingness to fail in following Jesus ⛵ and why it’s important to say #BlackLivesMatters. (10 minutes). Tune in and talk about it with your people and drop us a line.

peace my friends,
Pastor Mel
